Look. Iโm never going not going to see the worst on anything Peter Dutton says. Heโs an amoral monster that would happily see people suffer for a win for his party. But honestly, doing anything but unreservedly apologising for #robodebt, trying to find a way to attack the ALP? Just dumb. The LNP openly broke the law to punish a class of people they hold in contempt, an action that resulted in foreseeable loss of life. There is no way for the LNP to find honour in this.

Checking out my taxes because ๐ค. ATO says I can't claim coffee, tea, or milk as a work from home expense. Doesn't say anything about the hard liquor.
Saving this so it will get archived for me as a PDF because Twitter is shitting the bed

This seems extremely cool. I am 100% here for nntp in all its glory and warts.

Every chef or cook Iโve ever met has said, when faced with one of those Cook Your Own Steak stone grills has said โFuck off, make my steak for meโ and yet I have shaved so many yaks in my time.

Tears of the Kingdom is a lot of fun, but boy is it extra fun in the boss battles when the key NPC is supposed to stay close so you can ask to use their ability meanwhile theyโve decided to charge into the middle of a melee.

Blanket ban on gambling ads unreasonable, says the gambling industry.
Yeah, well.. you win some you lose some. I guess they should have bet with their heads, not over it.

Look, far be it from me to question the marketing geniuses of the American film industry, but trying to build tension in a TV ad by having a military guy in the mid-1940s question if there is a possibility the Trinity test could blow up the world lacks a certain frisson of uncertainty.

Like blogging engines and the ironically named distraction free text editors, Jira is perfect for enabling nerds to futz around with setup rather than actually doing the thing the tool is supposed to enable.

A Corn + Beans + Squash garden. The more I think about this, the more I want it. But I'd struggle to find a place for it. I'd never be able to keep it safe from the dogs.

I hadn't been doing my homework for Sydney Technology Leaders and needed to put the meetup.com events together quickly. So I asked ChatGPT to write the text for me, and then because I am me, I asked it "Make it more cynical".
Reader, despite my cold dead heart of jade, I was impressed. Not that it produced usable copy, I'm not at all surprised that the plagarism machine trained to trick humans came out as seemingly coherent. No, I was impressed that even I thought it might be a bit much.

Been doing some interviews lately. I have someone else in the room helping who hasn't done many interviews before. Partly because it is interviewing for a role I don't have any practical experience in. I have come to the conclusion that:
a) TAFE should still exist. I mean actually exist, not the shambling corpse the various flavours of neo-liberal governments have allowed to continue to wander the earth.
b) It should offer a semester long course, with labs, of how to interview.

ugh...the dilemma of being excited for a space launch, but also kinda wanting it to fail because the money guy is a prick, and his motivations are absurd.

Having heard the same predictions about the demise of the LNP party in 2007 - and for that matter about the GOP in 2008 - the nihilist in me assumes that in about twelve months people will forget about the awfulness and be very aware of transient cost of living issues and once more find that second classing a bunch of people is a fair price to pay for comforting lies about economic and financial realities. #ascot

Apple like to think they are pretty good, but with their smart assistants they are so far behind. Why, Siri is still telling me, years down the line, that she canโt find anything in the web for the sound of chicken frying in the pan or the sound of my mixer kneading dough. Get your shit together, Apple.
